OAP trapped by tree fall

A PENSIONER suffered a broken arm and a suspected broken leg after a tree he was felling landed on top of him.

The 76-year-old man became trapped after chopping the tree down in a garden in Ecclesmachan, West Lothian, on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were able to free the man, who was trapped for around an hour.

Crews used air bags to lift the trunk before removing him from under it.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said the man's wife phoned emergency services to alert them shortly before 11am.
