OAP rescued from flat fire

A 74-YEAR-OLD woman had to be taken to hospital after a fire broke out in her Edinburgh flat in the early hours of this morning.

The fire, which was caused by a pan of food, started in the flat in Inverleith Row just before 1.40am.

The elderly woman was treated for smoke inhalation at the ERI.

It is understood that no other residents in the block were affected by the fire and the block did not have to be evacuated.
