OAP jailed for killing Scot

A PENSIONER is set to die in jail after being sentenced to eight and a half years for killing a Scottish mother in Australia 20 years ago.

Ronald Pennington, 82, had stood trial in Perth, Australia, accused of murdering Cariad Anderson-Slater, originally from Elgin, Moray, who went missing from her home in July 1992.

Her remains were dug up last year during renovations at Pennington’s former home.

He was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
