Nurses want voices heard

THE concerns of nursing staff should be heard more clearly to improve patient safety, a nurses' union has said.

After a survey of its members, the Edinburgh-based Royal College of Nursing said in tough economic climates, the views of frontline workers were ever more crucial.

As a result, the organisation has called on NHS Lothian and other health boards to publicise their whistleblowing policies, after it emerged four in five nurses would be concerned about victimisation if their concerns were made public.
