Nursery slots 'in the dark'

MUMS in Linlithgow claim they have been left in the dark regarding nursery placements.

Parents say they have been waiting weeks for news on whether toddlers would have a nursery place after the summer.

One parent reportedly said: "I have had to give up my childminder because they need to secure work and I now have no childcare for after the summer. Everybody I speak to is in the same boat — it is a nightmare."

A spokesperson from West Lothian Council apologised to parents for delays, saying: "The School Placement Panel met on June 24 with final decisions being made on June 28."
