Nurse jailed over child porn pictures

A NURSE caught with some of the worst child pornography ever seen by police was jailed for four years and five months yesterday.

Andrew Sandford, 37, of Glasgow, who worked with geriatric patients in the city's Victoria Infirmary, had more than 12,000 still and moving pictures of children on his computer.

A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told him that the term "indecent images" sanitised and disguised what was involved in such cases.

"The nature and detail of the conduct perpetrated against young children and babies which features in your collection of images is quite shocking," said Lord Turnbull.

Sandford, a married man, admitted possessing and downloading pornography between November 2006 and September 2010 at his home and a previous address in Barrhead, Renfrewshire.
