Number of diabetics soars above 30,000

THE NUMBER of diabetics in the Lothians has passed 30,000, according to a register set up to monitor patients with the condition.

The Lothian Diabetes Register was set up in 2002 to allow patient information to pass quickly between medical professionals.

It means patients with diabetes can receive consistent treatment by staff across NHS Lothian.
