Now, where are the chips?: Transport minister welcomes new supplies of salt

Transport minister Keith Brown visited Leith docks yesterday as the latest delivery of salt was landed. It will supplement current stores which are being used to keep Scotland moving.

The 26,000-tonne cargo will be followed by a further 42,000 tonnes in the coming days. The new stock, which was ordered in early December, will be sent to roads authorities across the country. Mr Brown said: "Last December we faced the second coldest month since records began, and we remain prepared - as these salt deliveries this week demonstrate."
