Nostalgia: From this week in the past

GRAEME Mair told the Evening News on April 16, 1993 how he had nothing to fear from rail strikes or parking problems.

That’s because the commuter had given up on cars and public transport, choosing instead to wheel his way to work in the city . . . on a tricycle.

Graeme, 33, took an hour to cycle from his home in Dunfermline to Lee Boyd Architects, in Canaan Lane, where he was an architectural technician.

“I used to take the train but it got too difficult to get my bike on,” he said. “There was never enough space and some guards would let you on but others wouldn’t. I never knew if I would get home or not.”
