Nominations 'terrify' chef

MICHELIN-starred culinary expert Paul Kitching has been shortlisted for two honours in the 2011 Scottish catering "Oscars".

The famously creative chef of 21212 restaurant in Edinburgh's Royal Terrace has been nominated in the Chef of the Year category, while his eatery is a contender for the Restaurant of the Year in the Catering in Scotland Excellence awards, which are contested by leading talents in Scotland's catering, hospitality and tourism industries.

Mr Kitching said: "It's terrifying being nominated.

"I know the other chefs in the Chef of the Year category and one of them is my old boss and mentor, Ian McAndrew."

Mr Kitching described his style as having a "French classical heart but with a playful approach".
