No Small achievement for Rachel

RACHEL Small, 17, was among the pupils tearing open their exams results with trepidation this morning.

There was good news for the Broughton High School pupil, who received a distinction in her languages Baccalaureate exam. The Scottish Baccalaureate, which is being awarded for the first time this year, incorporates three advanced highers and an extended project. Rachel is one of just 17 pupils in the Capital to have been awarded it.

Rachel, who lives in Craigleith Hill Gardens, achieved grade A in advanced highers in English, Spanish and French.

Her headteacher Lesley Johnston said: "We're enormously proud of her."
