No answers over suspected Betty body

a POST-MORTEM on a body which police suspect may be missing Edinburgh woman Betty Brown has failed to find a cause of death.

Further tests are set to be carried out on the body in a bid to establish a cause of death following the post-mortem held in Carlisle on Monday.

More tests are also set to be completed in a bid to identify the remains, which were found last week in a quarry in the Longtown area of Cumbria, five miles from Gretna, where Mrs Brown's daughter Sarah lives.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police said Mrs Brown's family had been informed of the latest developments.

The 55-year-old mother-of-three, from Gorgie, vanished after leaving home on May 28 last year. She was last seen getting off a number three bus on Nicolson Street.

Last Tuesday, officers found the skeleton, fearing it had been there for up to six months.
