Nine arrests for breaking into houses 9 suspected burglars

POLICE have arrested and charged nine suspected housebreakers after raids on a number of Lothian homes.

The alleged housebreakers were charged with a variety of offences after being detained in Livingston, Seafield, Bridgend, Linlithgow and Bathgate.

The operation on Wednesday was aimed at continuing to disrupt the activities of criminals in West Lothian.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Crawford, head of CID in West Lothian, said: "When someone breaks into a home, it can often leave the owners devastated and traumatised, living with the knowledge that someone has been in their house and stolen their property.

"We need to stop these crimes, and we are appealing to the public to help support our operations.

"If you see anyone acting suspiciously in or around houses or other premises, please get in touch and make us aware of your concerns."
