NHS urges Hep C checks

RESIDENTS who may have been at risk of contracting Hepatitis C have been urged to come forward for screening.

It is thought there are 3000 people in Edinburgh living with the disease who don't know it.

Hilda Stiven, senior health policy officer for the health board, said: "We are looking for former injecting drug users, people who had NHS blood transfusions before 1991 and anyone who may have shared items, such as razors, with someone who has the virus."
