NHS still to discuss cuts

NHS bosses in Edinburgh have yet to discuss the prospect of job cuts beyond next year, it has emerged.

The health board needs to lose 2000 staff by the end of March 2012 under its current plans, but no announcement has been made beyond that.

NHS Lothian revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request that no discussions had begun on the issue.

After the current round of reductions is complete, it will have around 27,000 staff.
