NHS service is talking sense

AN NHS Lothian interpretation service for patients who can't speak English has been launched.

The telephone service means clinicians can be hooked up to a translator within 60 seconds.

Health chiefs said the scheme would improve health inequalities and make ethnic minority groups more confident in dealing with medics.

The exact cost of the project is unknown, although spending on translation in the Lothians has risen sharply over the years.
