NHS cure for language woe

A MULTI-lingual online guide has been launched for Lothians patients who don't have English as their first language.

The scheme is aimed at making sure people know exactly where to go for healthcare and they can get the correct advice regardless of language skills.

A DVD has also been launched to assist with the project, and will be available through groups who work with ethnic minorities.

People with poor literacy skills and those new to Scotland should also benefit from the "How to use the health service in Scotland" scheme.

The voiceover for information has been produced in 16 different languages, and will also help the deaf and those with hearing difficulties with a sign-language option.
