NHS cleans up with champion

NHS Lothian has celebrated appointing its 1,000th cleanliness champion.

Evelyn Wilson, a nursing auxiliary at St John's Hospital in Livingston, was recognised as the milestone participant at a small ceremony in the hospital.

The health board's cleanliness champion co-ordinator, Caroline Brown, said: "The cleanliness champion initiative has run over the past five years.

"During this time we have made a lot of progress in increasing awareness of issues around cleanliness."
