Newsreader Catriona Shearer to headline Forth sleepwalk

Newsreader Catriona Shearer will lead off a "Midnight Sleepwalk" across the Forth Road Bridge in aid of a leading children's charity.

The BBC Reporting Scotland presenter will be amongst those taking part in the event to raise money for Aberlour, which has more than 40 services across the country, including Outreach Edinburgh, which works with families experiencing difficulties with substance abuse.

The five-mile hike will take place on September 10, with those taking part urged to wear pyjamas.

The newsreader said: "I am really looking forward to seeing hundreds of ladies taking part. Aberlour is such a great cause and does fantastic work.

"The children and families rely on us and in these current dreadful financial circumstances, I would ask as many people as possible to get on their PJs and join in to help raise cash for this wonderful charity."

Aisling Thornton of Deep Sea World, which is supporting the event, added: "We're delighted to be involved with such an amazing event for such a wonderful charity. Aberlour provides invaluable help."
