News writer scoops top health prize

EVENING News health reporter Adam Morris has scooped a national award for his coverage of dementia issues in the Lothians.

Adam won the regional health feature of the year title from the Guild of Health Writers at a ceremony in London this week.

The judges were impressed by his sensitive and powerful reporting of the story of dementia patient Janet Moss who, in a rare moment of lucidity, pleaded with her son not to let her die in the city's Royal Victoria Hospital. Following the story, the health board agreed to move her to another hospital where her needs could be better met.
