New Zealand quake search is called off

RESCUERS yesterday officially gave up hope of finding more survivors of New Zealand's earthquake, saying that no-one trapped in rubble could have survived for nine days.

Around 200 people are still listed as missing in Christchurch. So far, 161 bodies have been recovered.
