New venue boosts Assembly Rooms sales

THE largest promoter on the Fringe has revealed that it has boosted ticket sales by a third after adding a major new venue.

The Assembly Rooms will be running the first major venue in Princes Street Gardens for more than five years this month after striking a lucrative deal with the council to take over a site at the Ross Bandstand.

The new Belgian "mirror tent" venue has already been drawing crowds at the jazz festival in advance of the majority of venues opening for business for previews today.

Bosses at the Underbelly venues have also reported ticket sales running way ahead of last year after adding their own major new venue - Edinburgh University's McEwan Hall.

Pleasance ticket sales are 1.5 per cent ahead of last year's figures.
