New trial bid over Bhopal tragedy

An INDIAN court has agreed to a new request for the extradition of the former chief of US chemical company Union Carbide in connection with the 1984 Bhopal gas leak tragedy.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed an application for a new trial for Warren Anderson, 90, over the disaster which killed more than 15,000 people and caused related illnesses in hundreds of thousands of others.
