New tenants are found for murder house

A COUNCIL house where a mother-of-four was murdered and hidden under the floorboards has new tenants following a £20,500 revamp.

The semi-detached house in Balbardie Crescent in Bathgate has been let out by West Lothian Council after police concluded investigations at the property where Carol Jarvis was murdered by her husband, Harry, in September 2009.

Jarvis, 62, was convicted of murdering his 47-year-old wife after a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh last year,

His mistress, Rita Heyster, who lived in a shed at the property, was convicted of defeating the ends of justice by helping him conceal the murder.

West Lothian Council have revealed that its new occupants have been told of its gruesome history. A council spokesman said: “The property has been re-let. A number of necessary repairs and upgrades were carried out.”

The house had been locked up since Jarvis was first arrested for the murder of Carol. The council spokesman added the house could only be re-let once police were satisfied that their investigation was concluded.
