New repair class has it covered

A NEW class has been launched in the Capital giving lessons on repairing computers and quilts.

Remade in Edinburgh's coffee, quilting and computer repair sessions are to be held every Friday morning at the South Bridge Resource Centre.

The classes, part of Transition Edinburgh South, were set to be launched today and continue until the end of June.

Co-ordinator Sophie Unwin, who was involved in a similar project currently thriving in Brixton, London, said: "Repair is not a new thing, but we want to bring it back into fashion - and we're lucky to have so many skilled and passionate members who share our vision."

Volunteer Rea Cris said: "If you have a laptop that needs an overhaul we can help you clean out all the nasty bugs and help get it running more smoothly.

"You can help us make our community quilt or simply bring along clothes that need mending and our friendly tutors will show you how to thread a sewing machine and fix them."

People that are interested in the classes can register for a mailing list by e-mailing [email protected].
