New photo of Loch Ness Monster sparks debate

THE debate has been ongoing since Robert Wilson’s now famous photograph taken in 1934 that appeared to show the Loch Ness Monster poking her head out of the water.

But a new picture that purportedly brings fresh evidence of the Loch Ness Monster to the table has sparked fresh discussions about the existence of some sort of large creature inhabiting the body of water.

David Elder, of East Kilbride, was at the pierhead at Fort Augustus when he caught sight of what he called a ‘black area of water 15ft long, which developed into a bow wave.’

Numerous photographs have been taken over the years that claim to show ‘Nessie’, with most being put down to driftwood or camera trickery. But amateur photographer Mr Elder, 50, is adamant that he saw something concrete.

He added: “I’m convinced [the wave] was caused by a solid black object under the water. The water was still at the time. Water was going over something solid to make the wave .There was nobody on the loch at the time.”

Local tourism chief Willie Cameron revealed: “I know four people who have seen a creature, but wouldn’t speak about it publicly for fear of ridicule”.

The new photograph has led to interest from so-called ‘Nessie hunters’ but has also been met with considerable scepticism. Twitter user @Suzibrown92 suggested it was just a tree log, whilst @landscapes365 called it a ‘silly season’ picture.
