New NHS Lothian board appointed

AN accountant and management consultant has been appointed as the new chair of the NHS Lothian board.

Brian Houston replaces Dr Charles Winstanley, and will lead the organisation until 2017.

The Scottish Government said Mr Houston would bring experience from both the private and public sectors.

Health Secretary Alex Neil said: “I am confident that Brian is going to be an excellent addition to NHS Lothian’s board.

“NHS Lothian is continuing to improve its performance in many key areas and I know that Brian will be able to further help in this regard.

“Charles Winstanley has served the board and the people of Lothian for six years, and I would like to thank him for dedication and hard work.”
