New fight over lap dancer ads

RESIDENTS in Tollcross are preparing for a new battle over a lap dancing club's "tacky" advertising banner.

Tollcross Community Council members say that the lap dancing silhouettes above the Liquorice Club on Home Street – as well as other upfront advertising at nearby saunas and lap dancing bars – damage the area's reputation.

Previous attempts to challenge the signs have failed and director of city development Dave Anderson said the council "cannot consider the content of any advertisements, however offensive".

Community council secretary Ann Wigglesworth said: "It has concerned residents for many years.

These clubs have got to be somewhere and we accept that. It's the signage that is the problem."
