New era for Morningside

MORNINGSIDE Library is set for an overhaul after council officials recommended that the plans get the green light.

Fabric improvements, an extension to the rear at the first floor level, new toilets and a new lift are part of the city council's proposals.

They include the residential flats at the upper levels of the library being turned into community meeting rooms despite being contrary to planning policies on the loss of housing.

Councillors will make a final decision on the plans at a meeting on Wednesday.
