New director for Scottish Cities Alliance

A CHARTERED surveyor with more than 30 years’ experience has been appointed as the director of the Scottish Cities Alliance.

Geoff Duke’s role will be to co-ordinate projects linked between Scotland’s seven cities and attract large-scale investment designed to promote growth and create jobs.

Mr Duke is currently project manager of Sustainable Scotland, an offshoot of Glasgow City Council.

Deputy First Minister and Minister for Cities, Nicola Sturgeon, said: “The Scottish Cities Alliance will create new economic partnerships and get more investment in our cities and help Scotland’s cities compete on the international stage.”

Dr Lesley Sawers, chief executive of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, which made the appointment, said: “The skills Geoff brings to this role will ensure we achieve our shared ambition of economic prosperity for Scotland.”
