New car sales stay in top gear

ALMOST 13,000 new car registrations were recorded in Scotland last month, figures show.

The 12,825 registrations in April is up 12 per cent compared to April last year when 11,421 new cars were registered.

The overall UK figure shows an increase of 11.5 per cent with 148,793 units registered as against 133,475 for April last year.

Douglas Robertson, of the Scottish Motor Trade Association, said: "We are pleased to see a continued increase in Scottish new car registrations despite the ending of the scrappage scheme in March."
