Popular international brands Forever 21 and Vans have sited their first Scottish stores within the new centre alongside other well-known stores including fat face, Paperchase and Gap.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon welcomed the development as a boost to Scotland’s retail sector.

She said: “Ongoing investment in large-scale retail projects like this one here on Buchanan Street helps to ensure sustainable economic growth for Scotland.

“Not only do projects like these provide a welcome boost to the construction sector, they also provide much-needed training and employment opportunities for young people in our communities.”

The site at the top of Buchanan Street was developed by Land Securities, who intend to invest a further £300 million in Glasgow during the next few years, according to the company’s chief executive Robert Noel.

The launch of 185-221 Buchanan Street is part of the wider Buchanan Quarter development.
