Neon art set to shine on for another year

THE National Gallery of Modern Art hopes to extend a neon installation by Scottish conceptual artist Martin Creed at the entrance to the gallery for a further 12 months.

The artwork - a large blue neon sign bearing the words Everything Is Going To Be Alright - has proved hugely popular since it was installed.

Simon Groom, director of modern and contemporary art at National Galleries of Scotland, said: "We were delighted to receive planning permission to install Martin Creed's neon work on the facade of the gallery last year.

"The work has been a great success, attracting a great deal of interest amongst our visitors. We have also received some very positive feedback from the press.

"We would like to apply to extend permission to display the work for another year."
