Needle point when Hyslop sees tapestry

CULTURE Secretary Fiona Hyslop visited the Battle of Prestonpans tapestry at St Mary’s Cathedral after it was revealed it was to go on show alongside the work which inspired it.

The embroidery of the 1745 journey of Bonnie Prince Charlie, from his landing in Eriskay to his victory at Prestonpans, will be displayed with the Bayeux Tapestry in France.

Artist Andrew Crummie guided Ms Hyslop, who said: “I have always been impressed by the level of Scottish craftsmanship shown in its creation.”
