Nature reserve flies the flag

A CITY nature reserve has shown it is among the best in Scotland after picking up a coveted Green Flag award for the second year running.

Easter Craiglockhart Hill Local Nature Reserve was one of the first green spaces in Scotland to gain the award last year when it was presented last year.

Hilda Henderson, Friends of Craiglockhart Woods and Nature Trail, said: "We are thrilled that Easter Craiglockhart Hill Local Nature Reserve has been awarded a Green Flag for the second year running.

"As a community we are tremendously fortunate to have such a gem on our city doorsteps. It is great that this is recognised nationally.

"We all must continue with our efforts to ensure that the site is enhanced and protected and continues to be well maintained."
