Nandos set for bank building

THE former Bank of Scotland branch on Chambers Street is now set to be turned into a Nandos Chicken after a member of the Capital's biggest food family withdrew his bid to turn it into a restaurant.

Antonio Crolla, owner of Dario's on Lothian Road and Bar Napoli on Hanover Street, abandoned his plans for the unit, clearing the way for the chicken chain to bid for its third restaurant in the city.

Nandos already has restaurants in Lothian Road and Fountain Park.

The unit is one of three former Bank of Scotland branches set to be converted to leisure use. Gary Still, owner of Whiski on the Royal Mile, is turning the North Bank Street branch into a "try before you buy" whisky store, while the former Castle Street branch is set to become a Wagamama noodle bar.
