Mystery garage blaze destroys 40 vehicles

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into an “unexplained” blaze at a garage which caused more than £100,000 of damage.

The Gordon’s Garage building in Aberdeen, and an estimated 40 vehicles, were destroyed in the fire as the area was rocked by a series of explosions in the early hours of Sunday.

Three streets were sealed off as 50 firefighters battled to 
control the blaze.

Inspector Christine Gordon of Grampian Police said: “This was a substantial fire which has caused extensive damage. It is estimated that the value of the damage will likely amount to a six-figure sum.

“The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and a joint investigation between police and fire and rescue will now take place.”
