My perfect weekend: Laura Christie

Laura Christie is a designer with top Scottish jeweller Ortak.

1 Who would your ideal weekend companion be and why? My boyfriend – he works a lot of nightshifts in the fire service whereas I work 9-5 as a designer so we often only have one or two weekends off together each month. It’s nice to make the most of it when it happens.

2 Where would you take him and why? He really enjoys outdoor activities so on the Saturday we would go to the EICA at Ratho and have a morning of climbing and bouldering. Then we’d take a wander along the canal into the city centre for dinner and a few drinks. On the Sunday we’d take in a bit of Edinburgh culture with a trip to Jupiter Art Land for a walk around the fantastic outdoor sculptures. I’d also like to try and fit in a gallery or two before the evening draws in. I love visiting the smaller up and coming galleries who showcase emerging young artists like SuperClub in Leith.

3 Where would you go for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Breakfast would be something on the go to give us plenty energy for our morning of climbing. Lunch would be sitting outside at Jupiter Art Land. Saturday’s dinner would be at one of my favourite places, Sabor Criollo – a Latin American restaurant in Stockbridge. Then on Sunday we’d enjoy some more great food with dinner and cocktails at Tigerlilly on George Street.

4 What item would you not be without? My camera, so that I could keep a visual diary of all the places we visited to look back on.

5 How would your perfect weekend finish? Enjoying a few rum cocktails after our dinner before the working weeks starts again.
