Music from 'any old iron' at workshop

AN innovative workshop using "any old iron" as a musical instrument is being held at the Edinburgh Conference Centre at Heriot-Watt University.

Instruments to be used at the event on Saturday include recycled industrial materials such as big plastic drums, large gas pipes, metal tubes, and alloy car wheels, amongst others.

No musical training is necessary for the workshop, which is available for the children of staff at Heriot-Watt University and is being run by Steve King who is the musician in residence.

Mr King said: "The experience is enriching, stimulating and, above all, great fun. I would urge all children of staff at Heriot-Watt University to come along to what will be an exciting afternoon."
