Murray Walker roars back into action

Former motor racing commentator Murray Walker is revving up for a new career - as a stage star.

Walker, 87, known as the voice of Formula One, will feature in a new theatrical production of hit children's television show Roary the Racing Car.

He will be heard providing the commentary for the race during Roary's Champion of Champions show which begins a theatre tour next month.

The TV legend, who retired from the BBC in 2001, has featured occasionally in the Channel 5 show with his breathless trackside performances.

He plays himself in an animated section of the show during a race at the Silver Hatch track.
