Murderer's ex is jailed over heroin haul

AN EX-BOYFRIEND of murdering would-be model Caroline Igoe has been jailed for 81 months for running a major drug racket.

A court heard how self-styled car dealer Gary Walker, 27, faced questions from police after Martyn Barclay, 26, the new man in Igoe's life, was gunned down outside the home where they were staying in the Inch area of Edinburgh.

In a separate investigation he was also tailed by detectives who suspected him of being the Mr Big of city drug dealing.

Police also tapped calls made by brother Stephen Walker, 37, while he was being held in Edinburgh's Saughton Jail after a drug squad swoop and heard him say, "I'm in here for Gary".

Operation Silver linked Gary Walker, of Balmwell Grove, Edinburgh, to three kilos of heroin which could have been worth almost 300,000.

The police operation also put five others in the dock at the High Court in Edinburgh. Yesterday four of them were handed sentences ranging from more than four years to probation. Another man was cleared when a jury found a charge of being concerned in the supply of heroin not proven.
