Murder victim 'wouldn't see the dark side of anything'

A MAN has told a court that his murdered daughter "wouldn't see the dark side" of anything.

Jeremy Wright, 49, described his daughter Samantha as "bubbly and full of fun".

Mr Wright was giving evidence at the trial of a 59-year-old man accused of murdering Samantha Wright in Edinburgh in June 2008 and hiding her body in a garden bin.

Robert Chalmers is accused of killing the 24-year-old by "means unknown" and attempting to dismember her by cutting her neck and body with a knife.

Prosecutors claim he murdered her at a house in Magdalene Drive in Duddingston, Edinburgh, on June 12 or 13 in 2008.

It is also alleged that, between June 2008 and October 2009, he placed her remains in a garden bin covered with foliage.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Chalmers denies all the charges against him and lodged a special defence of incrimination, blaming another man for Miss Wright's death.

Mr Wright, a wood machinist from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, told the court: "She was bubbly, loud sometimes, and full of fun. She wouldn't see the dark side of anything. She was full of life. She saw good in everyone and in everything.

"No-one would forget her once they met her."
