Murder trial date set for boy, 13

A 13-YEAR-OLD BOY accused of murdering a foster carer is expected to face trial in May.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with killing Dawn McKenzie, 34, at an address in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, on 24 June last year.

It is alleged he repeatedly struck her with a knife and murdered her. He pled not guilty at a court hearing in October.

He appeared at the High Court in Glasgow for a further preliminary hearing yesterday.
