Murder inquiry launched after fatal stabbing at Edinburgh flats

POLICE have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found dead with a stab wound following a disturbance at a block of flats in Edinburgh.

• The incident happened at Craigour Place in the south of the city

Another man, aged 41, was also stabbed, and was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Officers were called to the scene at Castleview House in Craigour Place in the city at around 8.45pm last night.

They found the body of the victim in the common stair of the building.

Police appealed for information about the incident.

Detective Inspector Gary Cunningham said: "We are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to this incident, however we are not yet in a position to identify the deceased.

"At this time I am appealing to any residents of Castleview House who have information that can assist our inquiries to get in touch with police, if they have not already done so.

"Anyone else who has any information that can assist should also get in touch."

The 41-year-old's injuries were not serious.

Lothian and Borders police said that high-visibility uniformed patrols have been deployed in the area to reassure to local residents.
