Murder hunt launched after man's death

A MURDER inquiry has been launched after a man died following a disturbance at a flat in Glasgow.

Derek Gray received serious injuries after the incident just after 4am on Saturday in Briarwood Gardens in the city's Mount Vernon area.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, but the 20-year-old, who was from the city's Ruchazie area, died a short time afterwards.

Detective Inspector Gail Johnston of Strathclyde Police said: "A mobile police office has been set up outside the flat and I would urge anyone with information regarding the investigation to come forward.

"I would also advise local people who may have any concerns to speak to officers at the mobile office."

The dead man's family has been informed of the death. The murder inquiry was launched after a post-mortem examination.

A report will be submitted to the procurator-fiscal.
