Murder claim over Red Road death trio

THE FAMILY of three Russians who plunged from the 15th floor of a tower block in Glasgow have criticised a lack of progress over the investigation into their deaths.

Relatives of Serguei Serykh, his wife Tatiana and her 19-year-old son Stepan - whose bodies were found in the Red Road estate a year ago tomorrow - say they are unconvinced the family had made a suicide pact.

Serykh was a former Russian intelligence officer who had left the country with his family for a new life in Canada ten years ago.

They decided to leave after being turned down for citizenship status and had spent several years living in Glasgow, but had been warned shortly before their deaths that they were about to lose their temporary accommodation.

Relatives of the three Russians had previously complained about the amount of time taken to release their bodies and a lack of contact from the authorities in Scotland.

Now Karina Derevyanko, 35, the daughter of Tatiana Serykh, said the "extraordinary" delay in the investigation had fuelled their suspicions that the former secret services officer and his family were murdered.

"A year passed since they fell off that building in Glasgow, and we, their family in Russia, have received no clue from the Scottish authorities as to what actually happened," she said.

The procurator fiscal is still considering a Fatal Accident Inquiry into the deaths.
