Murder case adjourned

A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of killing a pensioner in her flat on Christmas Day.

Amanda Nicoll, 28, was in the dock for a preliminary hearing yesterday at the High Court in Glasgow. She is charged with murdering 63-year-old Hannah Smith in Cranhill, Glasgow.

She allegedly forced her way in to Mrs Smith's property and stabbed her in the head and body before stamping on her.

Nicoll is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Judge Lord Turnbull adjourned the case until next month.
