Mums-to-be offered new Down's test

Pregnant women across Lothian are being offered a new and more accurate screening test for Down's syndrome.

It combines the results of a special ultrasound scan with a blood test.

Pamela Hamilton, 31, from Edinburgh, is 14 weeks pregnant with her second child and was joined by husband Lee to get the new scan at the Primary Care Imaging and Antenatal service at Lauriston Place.

She said: "My husband and I chose to have this test so we could prepare ourselves for all eventualities."
