Mum's £43k benefits fraud

A WOMAN defrauded more than £43,000 in benefits by claiming her partner had left her, a court heard.

Alicia Hogg dishonestly claimed income support for six years before officials uncovered her lies. Hogg's husband Richard moved back in with her and their child in July 2003, Livingston Sheriff Court was told yesterday.

Hogg, 40, of Brisbane Street, Livingston had pleaded guilty to failing to notify officials of the change in her circumstances. Sheriff Graeme Fleming imposed 240 hours of community service.
