Mum tells of tragic son's music hopes

THE mother of a "big-hearted" Dunbar man who died suddenly has told how her son had overcome drug abuse following the death of his father to pursue his dream of becoming a top music DJ.

Kevin Cowe, 37, passed away suddenly at home last month from bronchial pneumonia.

The former Ross High School pupil had been due to start a new job performing at the West Barns Inn just over a week after his funeral had taken place.

George Cowe, Kevin's father, passed away 10 years ago at the age of 57.

Kevin's mother Millie, 61, said her son was passionate about music and football.

She said: "Years ago Kevin used to be a DJ, he was into music, but he went into drugs after his father died.

"He came off the drugs, though, and had been off them for seven years. He was going back into music again. He actually had a gig coming up on Saturday night there at West Barns, and it was going to be a big thing. They were going to make it a permanent position.

"He was a fabulous DJ and he should've been up there at the top because everybody thought he was brilliant.

"He said that he wanted to be up there. He was building his way up again."
